E.P.B.A.A. Meeting on May 24th, 2005

The monthly meeting of the EPBAA was held at the Elks Lodge on May 24th, 2005. We had 13 members, which included 4 retired officers. Mike Burroughs' wife, Barb and his daughter, Kristin, were also in attendance. The meeting was called to order at 1925 hrs and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and Kristin singing "The Star Spangled Banner". Kristin did an excellent job. Afterwards, Kristin was awarded the 2004-05 Scholarship check. Congratulations to Kristin who will be attending SIU.

The Minutes from the April meeting were read and approved (Carr, Lafin). The Treasurer's Report was approved as well (Coughlin, Burroughs).

The correspondence included thank you letters from Elmhurst residents: Art Comings, Russ Caforio, & Bonnie & Steve. Debra Cohen from the ACS Relay for Life sent a thank you letter for the donation. Jan Edgley from the EWIM also sent a thank you letter.

Old Business:
- The annual fundraiser has received about 1000 donations from residents and businesses around Elmhurst and donations are still coming in.
- Elmhurst Walk-In-Ministry paint project was completed in about 2 hours with help from six guys, Chief Doherty, Brett Kaczorowski, Josh Duffy, Kenny Lafin, Dennis Kazarian, & Steve Weatherford. The paint and materials were donated by the Ace Hardware on First St. Great, big thank you to all who took part in this worthy effort.



- ACS Relay for Life will be held on June 17th, 2005 @ York High track. Dennis Kazarian, Chief Neubauer with wife Kathy, Steve Weatherford, Mike Reiman, and Laural Panico will walk in the event. If anyone's interested in attending the event, contact one of the above people for further information.
- The EPBAA jackets have been ordered and should be arriving for distribution on the 25th of May.

New Business:
- ECAF-Kiddie Car, organization, which helps disadvantaged kids around Elmhurst, asked for a donation to purchase one of the kiddie cars, which will be on display in the City Centre during the summer. A donation was motioned and passed (Lafin, Coughlin)
- York High Key Club is having a fundraiser to purchase a special wheelchair for Josh Johnson who is a son of a retired Elmhurst Captain, Randy Johnson. A donation was motioned and passed (Hogberg, Turek) which will help toward the total cost of approximately $3000.
- Some new Scholarship guidelines were presented to the membership for consideration and those and some other will be put up to a vote at the next meeting.
- Ed Coughlin requested a donation for the ad book for the Elmhurst Eagles football. The request was motioned and passed (Turek, Lafin)
- Ken Lafin suggested taking out an ad in the local papers thanking all that donated to the fundraiser and asking others to donate to the EPBAA. Steve Weatherford will look into the ad prices and report at the next meeting.
- Next meeting, which will be the last one before the summer break is scheduled for June 21st, 2005.

The meeting was adjourned at 1955 hrs (Coughlin, Lafin) and food and beverages were served.
