EPBAA Minutes for April 25th, 2006

The April meeting of the EPBAA was called to order at 1917 hrs. It was attended by 15 members, including one retired member and all of the officers.

The minutes from the March meeting were read and approved (motions by Lafin, Kazarian).
The Treasurer's report was read and approved (Kazarian, Timmons).

Correspondence included thank-you letter from the AARP for the K9 demonstration. Included with the letter was a donation to the EPBAA. Second letter came from the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization thanking us for the donation to their group.

Old Business:
- The Candlelight Bowl will be held on the 29th of April at the Wheaton Bowl. We still looking for people and have plenty of lanes still open, sign-up sheets are posted in roll call room. Only $500 has been returned with the raffle tickets and we need to try to sell more tickets. All of the proceeds are to go into our scholarship fund. Please check if you have any items, which could be donated for door prizes. If so, please turn them into one of the EPBAA officers;
- The Relay For Life will be held on June 16th and L. Panico will post detailed schedule in the near future;

New Business:
- AAIM has sent a letter asking for a donation to their ad book. Motion for a full page ad, as in years past, was passed (Lafin, Coughlin);
- Kiwanis Club Pancake Club asked for a donation for their annual Pancake breakfast and a donation was passed (Kaczorowski, Lafin) with the tickets to be given out to officers working that day shift;
- M. Burroughs spoke about the Bradford, TN police department, which lost their police station and all of their squads in a recent tornado. A motion was passed (Burroughs, Kazarian) authorizing matching of all of donations by the officers, up to $250 to be sent to Bradford, TN for the needs of the Department. M. Burroughs will contact the Chief from Bradford to find out their specific needs;
- A sign-up sheet will be posted in roll call for the DuPage Senior Citizen Council Chore Days, which will be held on the weekend of May 6-7, for officers to help Elmhurst seniors with some chores around their homes;
- D. Kazarian asked for a donation to the Special Olympics as we have done in the past. A donation was approved (Coughlin, Hickenbottom). Also looking for volunteers for the "Cop on Top" event at the Dunkin Donuts coming up. Flyers will be distributed in the mailboxes;
- K. Lafin will be walking, along with his family, in the annual MS Walk on May 7th and has asked for a donation to the Organization. A motion for a donation was passed (Duffy, Timmons). The Walk will be held at the Busse Woods in Schaumburg.
- We're still working on the details of the annual fundraiser letter for the scholarship fund.

The meeting was adjourned at 1952 hrs (Kaczorowski, Hickenbottom) and the usual grub was served.
