EPBAA Minutes for January 25th, 2006

The January meeting of the EPBAA was called to order at 1917 hrs. It was attended by 20 members, which included 7 retired members. Present was also Joan Mullins from the City Attorney's office.

The minutes from the December meeting were read and approved (motions by Rumick, Timmons).
The Treasurer's report was read and approved (Wiehe, Lafin).

The Correspondence included three thank-you letters:
- From Jim Gandy's family for our support after the death of his grandfather;
- Rick Moulis' son for our scholarship while he's attending the Illinois State university in Normal;
- Special Kids' Day for our donation to their event.

Old Business:
- We're still looking for any type of door prizes for our candlelight bowl, which will be held on April 29th, at the Wheaton Bowl. If you have anything to donate, see one of the EPBAA officers;

New Business:
- Doug Rumick asked for a donation to the Alcozar family who lost their son in the Iraq conflict in November and their house to a fire in December. A donation was motioned and passed (Rumick, Lafin);
- A donation request to help the family of an Alton police officer, Samuel Riney, who was injured on-duty by a drunk driver. Samuel is in critical condition will not be able to work as a police officer again and has a wife several months pregnant. A donation was passed (Lafin, Ciszewski);
- A donation to the local D.A.R.E. region was passed (Carr, Hogberg);
- The annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life was given a donation (Kveton, Monsen);
- New officer elections and voting will be conducted during this month. President Weatherford will put nominating ballots out to the membership;
- The annual Bulls trip was discussed and if tickets can be obtained we will sponsor the trip as in the previous years;
- A raffle was held for two tickets to an upcoming Bulls' game, tickets donated by Jeff Kucera. Winner of the tickets was Doug Rumick. Two more sets of two tickets each for a boxing gala at the Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace and a fundraiser for "Baby Hurley" were raffled off and the winners were B. Monsen and M. Wiehe.

The meeting was adjourned at 1943 hrs (Carr, Linneweh) and usual food and beverages were served. Next meeting is set for February 28th, 2006, starting at 7pm at the same location, KC Hall.
