EPBAA Minutes for December 14th, 2005

The December meeting of the EPBAA was called to order at 1625 hrs. Only 10 members, including 3 retired members attended it.

The minutes from the November meeting were read and approved (motions by Kazarian, Monsen). The Treasurer's report was read and approved (Kazarian, Monsen).

Old Business:
- The Awards dinner was a success and we still had awards to give to Tom Cronin for his work for hurricane Katrina and to Jim Daffara for his work as a K9 officer;
- Special Kids' day at the Elmhurst Camera was held, Chief Neubauer and S. Weatherford helped with a traffic control in the parking lot. The Explorers helped out by hanging the posters in numerous businesses. Thank you to the Explorer post for all their help;
- Still looking for raffle prizes for the Candlelight Bowl. Idea was to get a restaurant certificate when purchasing one for yourself or as a gift for someone.

New Business:
- Big Brothers/Big Sisters will have their 23rd annual Bowl for Kids' Sake event and has asked us for a sponsorship donation. The EPBAA has supported the group for over 10 years. A donation for a lane sponsorship was passed (Kazarian, Hargreaves);
- A request by A. Ciszewski for a donation for a cancer-stricken child in Lombard was motioned for a donation (Monsen, Arenz), but after a discussion where a thought was to concentrate on donations to causes more attached to Elmhurst and the EPBAA the motion was withdrawn by Monsen and tabled. A suggestion to amend the by-laws to reflect the requirements for donations was given and would be looked at;
- An Elmhurst Police Dept. throws will be offered for sale in near future. The cost will be around $29. More details to follow;
- The annual Toys for Tots program has started and a motion to purchase $100 worth of toys was passed (Carney, Kazarian). P. Carney agreed to purchase the toys;
- It was agreed and motion (Burroughs, Buenz) was passed to purchase a 10'-12', pre-lit Christmas tree and/or a wreath to be placed in the lobby of the police station for next year. Any ornaments not used by members may be donated for future Holidays;
- A motion to purchase 4 tickets to a fundraiser for "baby Hurley", an unborn son of a deceased Chicago police officer was passed;
- Pres. Weatherford will post a reminder about donations to the EPBAA in lieu of flowers in the name of Sandy Luehring who passed away recently.

The meeting was adjourned at 1730 hrs (Arenz, Burroughs) and usual pizza and beverages were served. Next meeting is, tentatively, set for January 25th, starting at 7pm, at the KC Hall.
