E.P.B.A.A. Minutes for January 18th, 2010

Meeting was held at 1530 hrs in the Police Department Training Room.  It opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.  19 Members attended.

Minutes from 12-15-09 (Art Ciszewski and Steve Weatherford) and Treasurer’s Report (Dominic Panico and Art) were read and accepted by the membership.

OLD BUSINESS:

Results from the 2010 Candle Light Bowl were read.  Profit was only $5 less than last year, but the event was down about 30 couples.  Ofc. Schweik won the gift certificate for selling 17 books of tickets, raising the biggest amount of money.  Last year had 37 members participating in the event in some way, including simply buying their tickets. This year, 44 members participated.  Donations of gifts greatly assisted in the financial success of this year’s event.

The new E.P.B.A.A. banner was researched and found to be reasonable in cost.  Steve Weatherford motioned for 2 general purpose banners with costs not exceeding $200, Art Ciszewski seconded, and all were in favor.

Fundraiser envelopes are set to go to print in the coming weeks.  An order to Office Depot will be placed.

Some discussion was had regarding what to do with E.P.B.A.A. funds as far as investing.

An Elmhurst boy will be sponsored by the EPBAA for Elmhurst Eagles youth football.

NEW BUSINESS:

Vending Machines – some discussion regarding funding possibly two new machines, one for lunch room and one for training room. Ken Lafin motioned open to the best price not exceeding $1500, second by Dan Buenz.

Thank-You letters received from Elmhurst Walk-In Ministry, the Luehring family, Special Olympics.

“Shop with a Cop” idea to go private.  Still participate in the Sheriff’s version, but also have our own for Elmhurst only.

Nominations for office:  Art Ciszewski motioned Dave Rivkin for Secretary, seconded by Dan Buenz.  Mike Burroughs motioned Bob Tannehill for Treasurer, seconded by Art Ciszewski, and Dominic Panico motioned Ed Coughlin for President, seconded by Mike Campise.  All three candidates were accepted by affirmation and were motioned by Art and seconded by Guy Schweik.  The current board members will retain office for the next two years.

Outings and events – Cubs/Sox, family type events, the E.P.B.A.A. Awards Dinner, the Candlelight Bowl, all events need exposure and participating in order to be considered.  The board requested members to spread the good word about E.P.B.A.A. to those members lacking participation skills.
