Treasurer’s Report was read (Jim Gandy/Ken Lafin), accepted by membership.

OLD BUSINESS:

The new term for the re-elected board started Feb. 1, and will run through Jan 2011.

President Coughlin distributed a survey to every member requesting interest in social activities within the E.P.B.A.A.  Of the returned surveys, the following results were read at the meeting:

Cubs Outing- 29 would participate/ 13 would not

Sox Outing- 29/13

Hawks Outing- 29/13

Kids’ day at a roller-skating rink- 15/28

A request was made to have members get involved and spearhead plans of the popular activities.

Steve Mandat won the two tickets to the E.C.A.F. (Elmhurst Children’s Assistance Foundation) Casino Night, being held Sat., Feb 20, at the Diplomat.  Several members have bought tickets to attend on their own.

Tickets were requested by Pres. Coughlin for the E.P.B.A.A. Cubs outing.  One of two dates, one in June and one in July, will be scheduled by the Cubs, we have no power over which day is assigned as the tickets are sold as a group outing.

The Awards Banquet plans started with collecting pricing at the American Legion and The Waterford Banquet Hall, both in Elmhurst. The American Legion gave a quote of $800 for a Saturday night and $600 for a Friday or Sunday night. This is for the room only and the Association would have to choose a caterer.  Waterford was working out a price.  Either location can offer a cash bar.

The final total for the Candle Light Bowl ended up being $205 more than last year, with less attendance.  Again, a large amount of funds were saved through donated gifts.  The association requests all members seek prize donations throughout the year to continue the success of this scholarship fund raiser.

With the rise in funds realized, the scholarship will be raised to $1000 and perhaps next year to $1250.  Members are reminded that to qualify for a scholarship, they must participate in the fundraiser in some way AND attend at least two meetings.

The vending machines are still being considered.  President Coughlin spelled out the costs for the machines: a 40 slot machine averages $1595, and a 23 slot machine averages $1295.  A combo machine offering cans of soda and snacks averages $800.  A motion was entered by Dan Buenz for $2000 total for machines, second by Ken Lafin.

Tackle the Tower event was held and several E.P.B.A.A. members participated amongst the 380 total runners.  Treasurer Tannehill led a team to low times and a good showing for the Elmhurst Police.

NEW BUSINESS:

The exercise room needs repairs and cleaning out.  Estimates were being collected to have the benches recovered and the sauna repaired.  One piece of equipment, the incline/decline bench, is damaged beyond repair and is dangerous and will be discarded. Pricing on additional racks for barbells and dumbbells will be sought.  The E.P.B.A.A. encourages all Elmhurst Police officers to use the facility and maintain their fitness.

Donation requests:

* From Operation Snowball – donation motioned by Ray Bradford/Steve Weatherford, all agreed.

* “Homes for our Troops” – shelved until further research on this organization can be made.

Retired E.P.B.A.A. member Rich Linneweh requested and was given his retirement disbursement.  Congratulations, again, Rich for 30 years of service to the Police Department.

The meeting adjourned at 20:25.
